The Green Energy Train project aimed at 10% energy saving in households via behavioural changes. The target group consisted of tenants of social housing who had moved into newly built houses. They were educated and informed about energy savings based on the philosophy of 'Live Energy'. Testing this educational method was a secondary goal of the project.

This case study focuses on the implementation of the Green Energy Train programme in apartment buildings in The Hague between September 2001 and May 2003. It targeted 228 households in eight apartment blocks. The project aimed at reducing the energy, heat and water use of these households with 5%. This target was not reached due to several reasons.
