During field observations the observer spends time with (some members of) the target group and tries to identify energy-wasting behaviour. This requires visiting the target group in the environment where the project aims to implement more efficient behaviour. If this is not easily possible, for example if it would require observing people’s private life, energy diaries are another option. Here, the project manager asks (some members of) the target group to keep track of energy consuming activities throughout several days (at least one week and one weekend day). You can find some experiences and evaluation of energy diaries here.
